Event Summary

USBN hosted a legislative update webinar on January 14, 2026, bringing together Josh Craft from Utah Clean Energy and Tom Moyer from Climate Utah to walk through what businesses should be watching in the upcoming Utah legislative session.

Josh shared Utah Clean Energy’s priorities for 2026, including making solar, geothermal, energy storage, and transmission central to Governor Cox’s Operation Gigawatt, expanding access to energy-efficient upgrades through inclusive financing, and continuing to modernize Utah’s electric grid. Together, Josh and Tom highlighted several clean air and energy bills that could have real impacts, from new funding for air quality programs and stronger emissions enforcement to reducing gas-powered equipment on state property and investing in the electrification of FrontRunner trains. They also touched on legislation related to new electricity resources, solar and geothermal development, and water use, wrapping up with a Q&A that gave attendees practical insight into what’s ahead and how to stay engaged.
