What is Just One Thing?
Just One Thing is a video contest the USBC held in 2023 designed to help raise awareness of what our members are doing to advance sustainable business here in Utah.
Members were invited to create and submit short videos that were posted below. In September, our members voted for their favorites, and the best videos were screened at our flagship networking event on October 5, 2023.

Reducing Plastic Bag Waste with Grace Christensen at Stardust Sustainables

Ideas for your video
We’ve kept the video content requirements flexible because we want to encourage as many people as possible to share their work and ideas with the community. The only real requirement is that you keep the focus of your video on the intersection of business and sustainability.
Here are some ideas for topics you can cover in your video:
- Inspire others by sharing about a sustainability related project or program that you’re proud of
- Help others adopt more sustainable practices by providing a brief overview of a product or service that you provide that supports sustainable business
- Tell the story of how your nonprofit supports businesses that want to be more sustainable
- Sing the praises of a partner who has helped you with your work
- Provide an overview of your advocacy work and share how businesses can get involved
- Ask for help solving a problem – Do you want to talk to someone who has wrestled with a similar issue? Are you looking for a vendor for a specific solution? Do you need partners to collaborate with?
Video guidelines
- Your video should be somewhere between 60 and 120 seconds (short and sweet)
- Shoot your video in landscape format (hold your phone so that it horizontal/wide when you are recording)
- Keep it easy – shoot your video on your phone and don’t bother with expensive or time-consuming post production
- Focus the content of your video on one single idea or solution, you may submit multiple videos if you have multiple ideas you want to share with the network
Award categories
Winners will be selected across several categories. The final categories will depend on what videos are submitted, but they’re likely to be:
- People’s choice award
- Most impactful project or offering
- Most fun video
- Best collaboration
